Gathering in Wamena, traditional customary chiefs (Ondoafi) and tribal council leaders representing communities across the central highlands issued a unanimous joint declaration affirming peace, lawful governance, and the protection of civil public servants.

Condemning Violence Against Teachers and Nurses

The assembly strongly condemned recent intimidations and violent disruptions directed at rural schoolteachers and public healthcare workers by armed insurgent groups. Chiefs reiterated that education and medical care are fundamental human rights that must never be held hostage by armed elements.

"When an outsider harms a village teacher, they steal the future of our children. We stand with the rule of law and demand an end to violence that holds our people back," stated Council Leader Barnabas Matuan.

The resolution urged young Papuans to embrace higher education, vocational training, and entrepreneurship as the genuine pathways toward regional self-determination and lasting prosperity.
